Paula Julie Abdul is a renowned American television personality, multi-plattinum Grammy-winning singer and also a very famous choreographer winning the Grammy. She rose to the stardom in the 1980’s from the position of just a cheerleader of the Los Angeles Taker to the queen of the limelight at the height of the music video era, followed by a Pop-R&B singer. Though she has seen professional triumphs and reverses in both of her personaland profesional lives, it was the year 2000 when she got an oportunity in renewing her fame and erstwhile success being a judge in the all time high television series American Idol.


Hailing from a familty of livestock  trader and a small businessman, her father and a former concert pianist, her mother, she was attracted to the world of glamour at a very tender age. From the childod she used to eulogise the stars like Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, the O’Jays and longed for stepping into  their shoes. It was a turning point in her life when she was enrolled at the State University of California at Northridge to be proficient in the study of broadcasting.  While as a fresher, she was selected from a pool of 700 for the Los Angeles Lakers’ famed Laker Girls  and within three months she became head choreographer.



The year 1984 is a momentous year of her life. It was in this year, when she got an offer for the Jacksons family for her high-energy, street-funk style and  choreograophed a music video for their album 1984 Victory. She performed as a choreographer for the 1980s videos of singer Janet Jackson and has  choreographed music videos for famous albums like Duran Duran, Heart, Prince, The Jacksons, Jermaine Jackson, Kool & The Gag, The Pointer Sisters, Steve Winwood, Luther Vandross, INXS, Debbie Gibson, ZZ Top, George Michael and Dolly Parton.

 


She won the EmmyAward in 1989 for the Outstanding Achievement in Choreography for her work on The Tracey Ullman Show and was awarded for the second time in 1990 for The 17th Annual American Music Awards. She had many ups and downs in her careers but it was her appearance as one of three judges for the reality televsion music competetion show American Idol that again restoted her in the limelight. The event was meant for the evaluation of the talent of a large group of young amateur singers, with chances of facing elimination in various audition rounds, and then judge the finalists as American television viewers voted on which finalists would continue to each successive round, until all but the winner were eliminated. Paula won laurls as a sympathetic and compassionate judge. Her keen interest in finding a positive sense in almost each performance of every individual along with her unique fingers-bent-outwards handclapping style have all gained attention and reputance.
