Christina Maria Aguilera is a well known American pop singer and also has excelled as a songwriter. She came to the prominence with her debut album Christina Aguilera that with its release in 1999 became an instant hit along with being a critical and commercial success. It was in the same period when a Latin pop album named Mi Reflejo with a Christmas album, My Kind of Christmas also being instant hits created a deep mark being sold strongly. It was at this time she was signed to the famous RCA Records after recording the astounding "Reflection" for the film Mulan.
It was in her second studio album in 2002 named Stripped that made Aguilera to take creative control which received mixed reviews and yet produced substantial sales. It is said that in the recent times by virtue of sales and impact on general audience there is hardly any other album which can compete. However, it was during the album's promotion that she used her sexual image in an overt manner and even in the liberal society of the United States of America it became the subject of intense criticism and ridicule both from the media and the geneal audience at large. She however regained her somewhat lost prominence and reputation throguh the release of her third studio album named Back to Basics that was released in 2006 where there was inclusion and beautiful and effective confluence of the elements of soul, jazz and blues music. Its release easrned a good sales graph along with decisive and impressive critical reception. It is a reality that she is at present one of the most favorite stars in the present decade. Her works have earned her numerous awards, that include most notably, five Grammy Awards amongst sixteen nominations, and 30 million albums worldwide, an unparallel saga even in the last few decades.
Though she has never appeared in movies, an unnatural narrative if compared with her contemporaries, has appeared in numerous television appearances and also in guest appearances. In an episode of Beverly Hills, 90210 she made a cameo appearance and hosted a well-received Saturday Night Live episode in the year 2003.
Apart from her glorious exploits throughout her career she has been found being involved with a lot of charitable programs intended for the development of general people at large. She was instrumental in writing a letter to the Government of South Korea from PETA arguing the country to stop its incessant killing of dogs for food, and the letter became succesful in creating a sensation. Again, her association in advocating the cause of Defenders of Wildlife have also added to her donations with charities.
