William Harrison "Bill" Frist, Sr., M.D.,is a renowned American physcian, businessman and politician. He, apart from being the former United States Senator from Tennessee he was also the Majority Leader of the Senate. He hails from the Republican Party and is frequently mentioned as a candidate for that party's 2008 presidential nominatio.

Taking birth in the family of Dorothy Cate and Thomas Fearn Frist, Bill Frist is a fourth-generation Tennessean. He had his early educational career in Nashville, Tennessee being graduated from the Montgomery Bell Academy and then from the Princeton University in 1974. In this University he specialized in the health care policy at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.  However it was 1972 when his life took a new turn. In this fateful year he held a summer internship with Tennessee Congressman, Joe Evins who advisd him to be in politics he would pursue outside the periphery of politics. It was this motivated him to opt for a career in the world of Medicine. He proceeeded to the Harvard Medical School from where he received his degre of Doctor of Medicine with honors in 1978.

Though he began his political career in 1992 he was shot into the national prominence when two Capitol police officers were brutally shot inside the United States Capitol by Russell Eugene Weston Jr. in 1998. Frist being the closest doctor acted at the fastest pace with medical attention, the two wounded officers could not be saved but Weston was saved. His focus on the social responssibility earned him laurels when he was the Congressional spokesman during the 2001 antrax attacks. 270 Apart from this he is known in the close quarters as one of the politicians in the present US political structure with the sharpest acumen. This was evident when he in 2004 election season applied the unprecedented political tactic of going directly to the home state  (South Dakota) of the opposition Democrat Party’s minority leader, Democrat candidate Tom Daschle and actively campaigned against him helping the Republican candiadate John Thune to defeat Daschle handsomely.

Frist in his personal life is married to his wife Karyn and is a rpud father of three sons.
