Benjamin Géza Affleck is a well known actor who has to his claim a Golden Globe Award-nomination. He is also a director and an Academy Award and Globe Award winning screen play writer. He came to the prominence in the late1990's when he got involved with the film Good Will Hunting. This success palced him on a strong foothold and has since become a leading personality in Hollywood with starring in several big budget films. And making them commercially successful, that goes to his credit.
He hails from a family of Berkeley in California where his father Timothy Affleck was a social worker and drug rehab counselor, while his mother Chris Boldt was a school teacher. Affleck's ancestry goes to the origin of Irish and Scottish. He grew up in the Cambridge, Massachusetts area and attended the Occidental College in Los Angeles as well as the University of Vermont. He started his career as a child actor while appearing on the PBS kids' series of the voyage of the mimi along with several made-for-television movies. He came to the national attention while working with his friend Damon in Good Will Hunting in 1997. The credit were shared by the duo and received the prestigious Oscar for the Best Original Screenplay. He was also instrumental along with Damon and producers Chris More and Sean Bailey, to launch the production company LivePlanet, the compay that produced with the equal participation of all the four the documentary series called Project Greenlight. However, they also has the taste of failure with the failed mystery-hybrid series Push, Nevada. It was in September 2006 when he released the highly critically acclaimed George Reeves biopic-noir Hollywoodland, that was directed by the famous HBO Tv series veteran Allen Coulter. No doubt his performance became able to craeate a deep impression and he was awarded the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the internationally famous Venice Film Festival. He also bagged the Best Supporting Actor award at the Hollywood Film Festival and even got nomination for a Golden Globe for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture. He has recently completed his third directed film, Gone, Baby,Gone circling around the subject of about two Boston area detectives who are engaged in the investigation of a little girl's kidnapping and the effect of this incident on their lives. For the time being it is in post-production and is scheduled for a 2007 release.
He is also active in the realm of political affairs and in the 2000 US Presidential election supported the candidature of the Democratic candidate Al Gore.
